Government Degree College for Women, Hussaini Alam, came into existence in 1984 to provide quality education for women in Hyderabad, Telangana. This affiliated college fullfils its mission as a women’s college with affiliation to the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) and aims at offering the best education to the girl students. Located on four acres of land, the college offers education to 1937 students of whom ninety-nine percent are undergraduate students, and one percent are postgraduate students. A dedicated group of 16 faculty members deliver 24 courses considered across 6 degree programmes, with emphasis on arts, commerce, and science.

The library being one of the most important academic facility of the institution has a stock of more than 9,224 books of different discipline and national journals and periodicals and e- resources. Students are privileged to enjoy the services of two well equipped laboratories containing internet connected computers that help in development of computer skills. There are also specialised departmental laboratories which are essential for practical in classes taking Science subjects. In order to foster an all-round development of the students, the Government Degree College for Womenege has facilities for indoor and outdoor games and a fully equipped gym. The auditorium has been designed to accommodate diverse functions ranging from debates to seminars and the Wi–Fi enabled campus facilitates sufficient internet access for students and members of staff.
A wide range of disciplines and degree programmes are available at the institution with something for everyone and for every career path one might seek. All the 24 are full courses and enable students gain both theoretical and practical knowledge and skills in their areas of specialisation. It provides undergraduate and post graduate courses, out of total enrolment of 1,476 students across all its programmes. The college provides several degree courses right from the undergraduate level covering Arts, Commerce and Science stream and several post graduate courses in Urdu, Commerce, and Microbiology
