R Muddurangegowda College of Education, Sira

R. Muddurangegowda College of Education was established in the year 2006 and located at Sira, Karnataka, is serving as a light house of teacher education. This affiliated college is in Jyothinagara, Sira and for more than ten years it is grooming future educators. Having NCTE approval, the institute is functional on an area of around 1.5 acres ensuring an uncluttered education process. Currently the college has 93 students and is staffed with 15 faculties which answers the question of teaching quality due to favourable students-faculty ratio.

R. Muddurangegowda College of Education possessed numerous facilities that can develop the learning process of future teachers. At the centre of these is the fully equipped library with books from different categories to teach-learning-Educational psychology & National educational interest. The library also consists many education encyclopedia, journals and much more resources of competitive exams of student’s view so that, they can acquire many knowledge with in a finger tips. Hence for practicals, the college provides the best facilities that include well equipped laboratories. The Science lab is equipped with facilities for practicals in physics, chemistry, and biology, allied to specimens, and equipment The Psychology lab support students with equipment for intelligence tests and psychological evaluations. In order to meet the contemporary educational needs, the college has adopted effective information technology through; There is a computer laboratory that enables the training in information and communication technologies ICT.

R. Muddurangegowda College of Education offers the B.Ed course as its core teacher education programme. As a two year – full time course, it strives to produce competent and enthusiastic teachers. The official admission capacity of the B.Ed programme is 100 and it provides the candidates an educational framework where they are trained as teachers and get knowledge both of theory as well as practice session. The course coverage encompasses different teaching approaches, psychology of learning, philosophies, sociologies of learning, and present issues affecting learning.

The admission procedure of R. Muddurangegowda College of Education is wholly based on merit, it follows the norms of the state government and the university to which the college is affiliated to. In view of this prospective students are assessed on their performance on the qualifying examination, entrance tests or any other mode as required. This helps the college to consider candidates whom they deem suitable to practice teaching profession successfully. Over and above, it has a match-less large erected Multi-Purpose Auditorium for the purpose of cultural and academic activities having Public Address System where by students gain stage experiences through adventurous stage performances and prestigious debates. The college also values student health whereby they avails itself of a health centre with first aid amenities. Also it provides a guest house for faculty and students who are visitors/In keeping with the institution’s warm and welcoming demeanour there is a guest house for visiting faculty and students’ family.

Located within the conservation town of Sira, R.Muddurangegowda College of Education empowers its students with not only education but also with chance to develop into professional teachers of tomorrow. By concentrating its efforts, having highly committed professors, and providing adequate infrastructures for learning, the college still remained relevant and contributed much to the development of educational system of Karnataka.
