Overview
1 undergraduate and postgraduate departments were integrated and Thiru M.N.V.Sastri headed the department. In 1946 V.O. Chidambaram Memorial Fundraising began.
This laudable move was blessed by the renowned statesman Chakravarthi Rajaji. Later V.O.C. Educational Society was constituted in 1947 to provide higher education for the benefit of the young especially the poor, in and around Thoothikudi.
In 1949, Thiru P.S. Kumaraswamy Raja, the then Chief Minister of Madras State, Laid the foundation for the college. V.O.
