Introduction

AP ICET 2026 is the entrance test that decides admission into MBA and MCA programs across university, constituent, and affiliated colleges in Andhra Pradesh for the 2026-27 academic year.

Andhra University, Visakhapatnam, conducts the exam on behalf of the AP State Council of Higher Education (APSCHE). Therefore, anyone targeting a management or computer applications seat in the state needs a clear picture of eligibility, the test pattern, and the exact application steps before diving in.

Eligibility Criteria for AP ICET 2026

Meeting the eligibility bar matters as much as scoring well, since AP ICET rejects incomplete or ineligible applications outright. Per the official booklet, candidates must be Indian nationals satisfying local or non-local status rules under the AP Educational Institutions Order, 1974.

Additionally, applicants need a 3 or 4-year UG degree recognized under the 10+2+3/4 pattern by the UGC. For MBA, any recognized degree of 3 or 4 years qualifies; for MCA, Mathematics must have been studied at either the Intermediate or degree level. Furthermore, the minimum aggregate required is 50%, relaxed to 45% for SC, ST, and BC category candidates (AP ICET-2026).

Notably, candidates who cleared all three years of their degree in a single sitting are not eligible for either course.

AP ICET 2026 Exam Pattern

The test evaluates analytical thinking, communication skills, and mathematical aptitude through 200 objective questions worth one mark each, with no negative marking. The full duration is 150 minutes, split across three sections.

Section Topics Questions
Section A: Analytical Ability Data Sufficiency, Problem Solving 75
Section B: Communication Ability Vocabulary, Functional Grammar, Business/Computer Terminology, Reading Comprehension 70
Section C: Mathematical Ability Arithmetical, Algebraical & Geometrical, Statistical Ability 55

Interestingly, the medium of the test varies by section: Section B is conducted only in English, while Sections A and C are offered in both English and Telugu.

Step-by-Step Application Process

Candidates apply exclusively online through the official APSCHE portal, cets.apsche.ap.gov.in, since no offline application route exists. First, applicants complete the registration fee payment, which stands at Rs 750 for OC, Rs 700 for BC, and Rs 650 for SC/ST candidates.

After payment, candidates log in to fill the detailed application, upload the required documents, and select up to five preferred test centres from the official list of 25 districts, which spans locations from Visakhapatnam and Vijayawada to Tirupati and Kurnool. Consequently, applicants outside these regions should plan travel to their nearest listed centre well in advance.

Merit List, Ranking, and Normalization

AP ICET 2026 requires a minimum of 25% marks, or 50 out of 200, to qualify, though this qualifying cutoff does not apply to SC and ST candidates. Since the exam runs in two shifts on the same day with different question papers, APSCHE applies a normalization formula to ensure no candidate is disadvantaged by a harder paper.

This process compares each candidate’s session average against the global average across all sessions, adjusting scores accordingly. In case of a tie, marks in Section A break it first, followed by Section B, and finally the candidate’s age, with older candidates given priority.
