Here’s the part most coaching ads skip: there isn’t one IPMAT. There’s IPMAT Indore, IPMAT Rohtak, and JIPMAT, and each one opens doors to a different set of institutes. Get this wrong, and you could end up prepping for the wrong exam entirely.

What Is IPMAT and Why It Matters for BBA Aspirants
IPMAT stands for Integrated Programme in Management Aptitude Test. It’s the entrance exam for 5-year integrated programmes that combine a BBA-equivalent degree with an MBA, all under one IIM roof.
The catch is that “IPMAT” is really three separate exams: IPMAT Indore, IPMAT Rohtak, and JIPMAT (conducted by NTA for IIM Jammu and IIM Bodh Gaya). A score from one doesn’t transfer to the other. So before you start prepping, you need to know your target college and its specific exam.

Top BBA Colleges Accepting IPMAT Indore Scores
IPMAT Indore is the most widely accepted of the three exams. A single attempt here can get you shortlisted at multiple IIMs.
IIM Indore: The Original IPM Programme
IIM Indore launched India’s first IPM programme back in 2011, and it’s still the flagship. For the 2026-31 batch, the institute has sanctioned 150 seats for domestic applicants, with five additional supernumerary seats reserved for international students.
The course fee for domestic students is ₹6,00,000 per year for the first three years, rising to PGP-level fees for years four and five. International applicants pay ₹9,00,000 annually. Selection runs through the IPMAT exam followed by a personal interview, with the final merit list based on a composite score.

IIM Ranchi: A Strong Second Option
IIM Ranchi accepts only IPMAT Indore scores for its IPM programme, so there’s no separate test to write. The institute offers around 120 seats for the 2026-31 batch, with personal interviews conducted offline across Mumbai, Delhi, Ranchi, Bangalore, and Hyderabad.
Fees for the first three years run close to ₹17.25 lakh, excluding caution deposit and mess charges. Years four and five are billed at the prevailing MBA rate.

IIM Shillong, IIM Amritsar, and IIM Sirmaur
These newer IIMs have all adopted IPMAT Indore as their entry test, meaning one exam attempt can put you in the running for four institutes at once. IIM Shillong requires a minimum 60% aggregate in Class 10 and 12 (55% for reserved categories) and a valid IPMAT or SAT score for overseas applicants.
Each institute requires a separate application after you’ve registered for IPMAT Indore, so don’t assume your IIM Indore application covers you everywhere.
BBA Colleges With Their Own Entrance Exam Route
Not every IIM uses the Indore exam. Two paths run independently.
IIM Rohtak and Its Standalone IPMAT
IIM Rohtak conducts its own entrance test, separate from IPMAT Indore, called the IPM Aptitude Test. For the 2026-31 batch (IPL Batch 06), the registration fee is ₹4,937, and the exam includes quantitative ability, logical reasoning, and verbal ability sections with negative marking.
Interestingly, IIM Rohtak also runs a BBA-LLB integrated route through CLAT scores, a route few other IPM colleges offer.

These two IIMs accept JIPMAT, a separate national-level test conducted by the National Testing Agency rather than by an IIM directly. If you’re applying here, your IPMAT Indore or IPMAT Rohtak score won’t count. You’ll need to register for JIPMAT specifically.
