Eligibility Criteria for Maharashtra NEET PG Counselling

Candidates should check the 2026 information brochure before applying. Meeting the general NEET PG requirements does not automatically make a candidate eligible for every seat category.

Who can apply?

Candidates who have appeared for and qualified NEET PG 2026 may apply for consideration against eligible postgraduate medical seats in Maharashtra, subject to the applicable admission rules, documentation and category requirements.

Before completing the form, check:

  • Whether you meet the eligibility requirements for your desired course and seat category.
  • Whether your MBBS qualification and internship meet the conditions in the information brochure.
  • Whether you have the necessary medical registration and supporting documents.
  • Whether you are claiming a reservation or special category and can provide the required proof.

Can candidates who completed MBBS outside Maharashtra apply?

The official notice specifically states that candidates who completed their undergraduate medical degree outside Maharashtra, along with foreign medical graduates, are eligible only for Institutional Quota (IQ) seats in private colleges under this process.

This rule should not be interpreted as unrestricted eligibility for every government or State Quota seat. Candidates must check the applicable seat category and their own eligibility before registering.

What Should NRI Candidates Know?

NRI candidates must complete separate eligibility registration through the Foreign Candidate Registration Portal before 22 October 2026, as stated in Notice No. 02.

The notice specifies a non-refundable eligibility fee of USD 50 and a one-time processing fee of USD 1,150 for eligible candidates proceeding further. Eligible applicants can be considered only for NRI Quota seats, as per merit. Check the official NRI notice for requirements.

For Personalized Guidance

Maharashtra NEET PG Registration Fee and Security Deposit

The official notice confirms the following payment requirements:

Fee Component Details
Registration fee ₹3,000
Refund status of registration fee Non-refundable
Security deposit Payable as applicable under the official rules
Payment mode Online payment gateway
Payment deadline 24 October 2026, until 5:00 PM

The registration fee and security deposit are separate requirements. The notice does not specify one universal security deposit amount in its schedule, so candidates should consult the current information brochure and their applicable category before paying.

Do not rely on fees from previous years or assume that the amount is identical for every type of seat. During CAP Round 1 choice filling, candidates are also instructed to verify quota-wise fees before entering preferences.

Before selecting a college, candidates can compare the Maharashtra NEET PG fee structure for 2026 to understand the tuition fees applicable to different colleges and quotas.

Documents Required for Maharashtra NEET PG Counselling

Prepare your documents early to avoid problems during registration or online verification. The final list depends on the eligibility conditions and category you claim, so use the current information brochure as the controlling checklist.

Common documents to prepare, where applicable, include:

  • NEET PG 2026 admit card and scorecard
  • MBBS degree or provisional passing certificate
  • Internship completion certificate
  • Permanent or provisional medical registration certificate
  • Valid photo identification and nationality proof
  • Required category, caste and caste-validity documents
  • Non-creamy layer certificate, where applicable
  • EWS certificate in the required Maharashtra State format, if applicable
  • PwD certificate, where applicable
  • In-service documents or a No Objection Certificate, where required
  • NRI eligibility documents and Foreign Candidate Registration Portal receipt, if applicable
  • Registration and payment acknowledgement

This checklist is for preparation only; refer to the official brochure for the complete requirements. Reserved-category candidates should prepare applicable caste, caste-validity and NCL certificates. EWS candidates must provide the required Maharashtra State-format certificate, while PwD and NRI candidates must meet their respective certification requirements. Missing or invalid documents may affect eligibility or category consideration.

Maharashtra NEET PG Document Verification 2026

Online document verification is scheduled from 18 to 27 October 2026, until 11:59 PM. Candidates must upload and submit all required scanned documents by 24 October 2026, at 11:59 PM.

  • Ensure that all uploaded documents are clear and complete.
  • Check that reservation and category claims match the supporting documents.
  • Monitor the portal for verification updates.
  • Keep all original documents ready for physical admission.

Online verification does not replace the requirement to submit original documents at the time of admission.

Maharashtra NEET PG Merit List 2026 and Grievance Process

The registered candidate list and provisional merit list are scheduled for 28 October 2026. Candidates should check the published list and carefully review their details.

If you find an error, use the official grievance process during 29–30 October 2026. The notice states that candidates must provide supporting documentary proof for corrections; requests without supporting documents will not be entertained.

The Final Provisional State Merit List and In-service State Merit List are scheduled for 1 November 2026.

Check your details as soon as the relevant list is published. Waiting until choice filling begins may leave little time to resolve an issue.

Maharashtra NEET PG Choice Filling 2026: CAP Round 1

The official schedule sets 2–4 November 2026 for online preference or choice filling for CAP Round 1, with the window closing at 11:59 PM on 4 November.

Before entering preferences:

  1. Review the seat matrix scheduled for publication on 1 November.
  2. Check the course, college and applicable seat category.
  3. Verify the applicable quota-wise fees before selecting a preference.
  4. Arrange choices according to your genuine course and college priorities.
  5. Review the submitted preferences and follow the portal’s instructions for final submission.

Choice filling is an important decision point. A college name alone is not enough to compare options; candidates should also consider the specialty, fees, location, training environment and long-term career plans.

Do not assume that choices entered in a previous counselling round will automatically carry forward. Follow the instructions issued for the specific round you are participating in.

Candidates comparing their college options can explore the top PG medical colleges in Maharashtra to learn more about institutions offering postgraduate medical education.

Maharashtra NEET PG Seat Allotment 2026: Selection List and Admission

The CAP Round 1 seat matrix is scheduled for 1 November 2026. It should be checked before you prepare your college preferences, as it provides the published seat availability for the round.

The first selection list for CAP Round 1 is scheduled for 5 November 2026. Candidates who are allotted a seat should follow the reporting instructions and complete admission formalities within the specified period.

What happens after seat allotment?

Physical joining and submission of the status retention form are scheduled for 6–10 November 2026, until 5:30 PM.

Candidates should:

  • Download and read the selection or allotment instructions.
  • Confirm the allotted college, course and seat category.
  • Arrange the original documents required by the institution.
  • Confirm the applicable college fees and accepted payment method.
  • Report within the deadline and complete the status retention formalities as instructed.

The official notice states that subsequent CAP round schedules will be announced later. Round 2, Round 3 and any later-round dates should therefore be added only after the State CET Cell publishes an official update.
